Raseiniai

From the press of that time: “We are becoming the suburbs of Kaunas... Žemaičių plentas highway makes it so close that a car trip from one city to another takes no longer than a walk from Laisvės alėja to Panemunė.”

Objects: The highest Independence Monument in the Baltic States, a post office with extraordinary sculptures, the Lyduvėnai railway bridge, the modernist bank building, the state gymnasium (currently, V. Petkus Primary School).
The golden age of Raseiniai: the capital of Samogitia, claims to the republic – own money, one of the first municipalities in Lithuania, millions for the highway Žemaičių plentas. About Lithuanian Kamchatka, Magdė of Raseiniai, and the bridge that turned the hair of train drivers gray. The route will be accompanied by the musicians from Nemakščiai. “...and the Samogitian holds down the bear and the moments of fights are under his feet...”, this was written about the Independence Monument in the press of the time. The most Samogitian city in Lithuania and the capital of Samogitia but do you happen to meet someone speaking Samogiatian in Raseiniai? We are Samogitians who have shifted our language.

The longest and the tallest railway bridge in Lithuania. When the railway was being built through Šiauliai, the people of Raseiniai were stingy with the bribe and decided they didn’t need that railway... We are to blame ourselves... But you won’t wind the ropes with that blame...
