Liepaja Gymnasium (1884, arch. Paul Max Bertschy). Many Lithuanians, including the signatories of the Act of Independence, studied in this gymnasium. Martin Luther Evangelical Lutheran Church (arch. Aleksandrs Zerenses), the largest church that was built in Latvia during the interwar period. A building of the pawnshop and savings bank (arch. Valdis Zebauers). Now abandoned. Rucava is the nearest Lithuanian-Latvian border town. You will find out how Liepāja became the contemporary capital of Latvia. Also, when and why Latvia entered its troops to Palanga. We will see and hear the Rucava Evangelical Lutheran organ – a monument of art and technology. There are even two organs in the Martin Luther Evangelical Lutheran Church in Liepāja which are just as interesting. This church has particularly good acoustics. In the port of Liepāja, we will be looking for granite bollards - it marks the place where the ship with the Latvian Interim Government moored.
